Moving on

Wed Jul 18, 2007, 5:50 AM
My friends,

As I said before, i'm changing back to film photography. I have almost all the equipment i need, and I've already printed my first works. It has been quite enjoyable, a lot more than what I felt with digital. So, for the time being, analog is my way.

However, I've realized that my new works don't work as well in the screen as they do in paper. So, i guess that publishing them here is not a good idea. Therefore, my presence here in DA will get less frequent. Please forgive me for any comment/note/work unanswered.

Thank you for all the support and friendship,

Mário

ive thought of going back to film but i only really started on digital, but you do get such a better feeling from a film print than an image stuck on your monitor

I do feel that any photography (digital or film) should end on paper. They do look a lot better... ;)

i think you could still post them along with details about the paper, process, film, etc. i watch some pretty awesome film photographers and have learned a lot from their descpriptions. of course, scanners can't do justice, but there is still value in posting and sharing.

Well, you may be right; guess i was quite disappointed with the scanning of the print - it wasn't even close to the original... :S

Aliás, espreita o meu journal anterior: [link] . Refiro-me, claro, a médio formato para cima. 35mm não vale a pena... ;)

Obrigado pelo comentário! :)

if you could see my polas in person you would be sad about the displayed results. i was showing my real polas to *filledesetoiles last night, and she was shocked by how much better the real thing looks. scanners are scanners. as long as you post info about the film, people who know about film will have an understanding of the variation.
