Who am i

My name is Mário Nogueira, i'm 33 years old and i live in Ericeira, a small fishing village near Lisbon, Portugal. I'm an IT professional, and photography is my main hobby. I also enjoy sports, music and reading a good book.

Why am I here

By creating this gallery, i was hoping to get some feedback on my works. Also, by frequently browsing other people's works, i wanted to learn new techniques, compositions and approaches to the art. So, the main purpose is to learn and improve my photography skills.

What you can expect from me

Well, lots of changes. What i like today, i may not like tomorrow. I'm not keeping the gallery to show my evolution, but to be a representation of what i think i want to make, at this point. So, today i may be on a b&w mood, but in a month it could all be in colour. Until i create my own style, it will change a lot. I will certainly try several approaches, but i hope that in the future i'll reach MY personal style and my gallery reaches a "stable status". Every now and then i'll take a look at it, and will probabily delete some of the works. Time is my greatest judge...

Current style

Some guidelines about what i'm trying to do now:

- B&W when shooting digital/film; colour in Polaroid
- Square crop
- Simple compositions;
- Maximum quality, except on Polaroid, of course

Thanks, i'm very glad my work could be useful for someone else! Someone used to say that "smart is not the one that learns from his mistakes, but the one who learns from other people's mistakes"...

Also that you are much more advanced from me, and you explain what you are doing and why - I can try and put some techniques into practise when I get a dslr.

Bem te entendo, no que toca à fase de experimentação! Tb gosto imenso de enquadramentos quadrados, e a minha principal razão de gostar de estar aqui no DA é de ver outros trabalhos que me dêem noções de enquadramentos, possíveis técnicas para melhorar a minha maneira de fazer fotografia, etc.

Acho bem que continues em busca do teu estilo próprio, e uma coisa que muitos já perceberam, é que não a nada sem muita prática.

Sim, sem experimentar e ver o que nos agrada, não evoluiremos. Mas o observar de outros trabalhos e artistas, a troca de experiências, é tb fundamental!
