Yearly visit

Mon Mar 2, 2009, 11:23 PM
Hello there!

Like in the journal before, I just wanted to say that I'm alive and still trying to improve my photography. Not much time for DA, so I'll just upload some of my new works, and try to keep up with yours.

At the moment, I'm still focused on film photography, namely medium and large format. I'm using a Rolleiflex 3.5c and a Shen Hao TZ45-IIb, shooting mainly Fuji Acros, Ilford FP4+ and Ilford HP5+, and developing on Kodak D-76.

Thanks for all your support :)

Hello there!

After over 8 months away from DA, i just wanted to say hello and thank you all for all the faves and comments which, as you may understand, i cannot individually answer.

I've been fully dedicated to my new techniques, namely film capture, digital scanning, processing and printing. This way, i get images with over 30Mpixel to work with, and can print at 300dpi over 30x40cm without any kind of interpolation, which gives amazing textures and detail. Unfortunately, web published images cannot have this kind of detail (300dpi), so you won't see the work as i do, on paper...

Anyway, I'm considering publishing here my recent portfolio - at least you'll see what i've been doing.

Thanks for all the continued support, even when my DA account has been almost completely "abandoned"...

Hello there!

Just to let you know that, in the near time, I'll be concentrating on other projects, namely my personal website. DA is becoming quite time consuming, and I need free time for doing my works. Therefore, my presence here (along with the watchs, faves and comments) will surelly be less frequent.

Thanks for everything ;)

Some news

Thu Oct 11, 2007, 6:51 AM
Hello there!

As you may have noticed, I've been resubmitting some works and bringing some new ones to light. This is a direct result of having a borrowed Epson 4990 scanner at home. This scanner can scan film negatives at 4800 dpi (a bit overkill, i think) with great quality! So, I started a new workflow: film capture (with all the detail and dynamic range advantages), scan from negative and digital post processing. Me and *pedroinacio worked and printed some images and the results were amazing (on his Epson 3800 printer)! I'm now considering to buy my own scanner, probably the Epson V700.

Also, I'd like to promote *TheEmptyWhiteRoom 's Critic's Picks. He's starting a "parallel" DD-like award. Worth checking it out; more details on his journal.

Last, but certainly not least, I'd like to thank to *jono-renton for his support, materialized on a 1 month subscription offer! Thank you, my friend! :)

Thanks for your time...

DD

Sun Sep 16, 2007, 1:33 PM
Hello there!

I just realized that i was honored with another DD! My first one ([link]) was quite a surprise, and there was even some controversy around the choice. Now, =aksdareflection suggested [link] and ^hellfirediva featured it; my thanks to both of them! This is not a new work - i submitted some months ago, when i was mostly doing long exposures with the Canon 30D. This was one of the last shots in a rather nice session in Peniche, Portugal.

Also, it's impossible to answer to all the faves, so i'd like to thank to everyone that faved and supported my work in general. I'm sorry i can't personally thank all of you, but i'm most grateful.

Thanks for your time,

Mário
